Technology Management makes £1.75m investment in office move and expansion plans

Wolverhampton firm, Technology Management, is on the move as part of a £1.75 million investment. The move sees the leading business solutions software company moving just around the corner – from its base at The Old Rectory in Waterloo Road to St Mark's Church in Chapel Ash.

The imposing 19th century St Mark's Church building, which has lain empty for over 2 years, will see the 85 strong Technology Management team move in at the end of April once a 12 week refurbishment programme has been completed.

James Crowter, managing director of Technology Management explains: “We are delighted that we have completed on St Mark’s, which is a landmark building in the city. Whilst we are sorry to leave our offices in Waterloo Road, we’ve just run out of the space we need to be able to respond to customer demand. These are exciting times for Technology Management - our staff numbers have doubled in the last four years and our current plans suggest we will double again over the next four years.

“The £1.75 million investment represents the purchase price as well as significant additional refurbishment and restoration costs. Phase one is just what we need to do to provide our staff with the best possible environment to work in but phases two and three will see the clock and bells in the church’s clock tower restored and the wrought iron railings repaired/reinstated. From 1898 to the 1920s the onsite vicarage at St Mark’s was the family home of the Reverend Kenneth Hunt, an FA Cup winner with Wolves who played for England and also won an Olympic gold medal. Kenneth was the last amateur to have won an FA Cup winner’s medal and also is the only man to have both an FA cup winner’s medal and an Olympic gold medal.

The Rev Hunt turned out for Wolves from 1907-1920 and scored the opening goal in a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United in the 1908 cup final. That same year he was part of the England team that won the men's football tournament at the London Olympics. Kenneth later went on to be ordained in 1908. The church is one of Wolverhampton's 'blue plaque' buildings, recognising its significance in the city's history.
