Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central 2024 Wave 1 Release Plan
Reading time: 2 - 3 minutes
The only certainty within the world of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is that there’s always change, and with 2024 release wave 1 coming up in April we’ve done the hard work of going through the release notes, so that you don’t have to. Team Tecman have not only looked at what’s coming up over the next few months, we’ve taken the time to consider how the changes could affect end users and we’ve done a little crystal ball gazing about what might be on the horizon.
The good news is that many of the updates over the next year for Dynamics 365 Business Central will help to save precious time, giving that same feeling of relief that you get when a meeting is cancelled. Winning back an hour or three across your working week will become a reality with new functionality and useful features coming in over the next few months. There are some big steps forward, and smaller but very useful changes all of which could make a big difference to Dynamics 365 Business Central users.
One game changer for small businesses is the upcoming ability to connect Shopify B2B to Business Central. Imagine the power of being able to get your eCommerce installed within a matter of hours at a fraction of the cost within your business instead of investing lots of time and money (and head scratching!) in a custom-built solution. B2C is already available and will soon benefit from a simpler connection with Business Central.
AI has been making headlines over recent months and the big news is that Copilot (Microsoft’s artificial intelligence assistant) will be introduced into Business Central later this year. Copilot assistance such as the introduction of a search function returning multiple curated sources (instead of a single solution) will start to give users the ability to make more informed choices.
The heavy lifting will be taken out of essential but laborious tasks such as bank reconciliation, with Copilot quickly searching to find the related information needed for one-off payments. With Copilot taking on routine tasks, acting as your trusty assistant (you will always be firmly in control!) and even helping to write product descriptions for your website, you’ll find your time and focus will increasingly be freed up to concentrate on moving your business forward.
There are also lots of little changes that will make a big difference from UK localisation being delivered as an app helping to streamline implementations and removing the need to add a country database, through to jobs being renamed to become projects. And with a word of warning about possible deprecations in old sales price features plus a cheeky invitation to take part in a future podcast to Microsoft this is an instalment you don’t want to miss.
