Microsoft Dynamics Development made easy? The role of the Citizen Developer

One size most certainly does not fit all, and that’s the same for your business solution. No matter what industry, size, turnover, stock, staff, etc., you’ll need a system tailored to how your business works and the goals you are aiming for.
But that sounds complex, right?
Wrong.
As our Tecman Directors explain in our latest podcast, the world of technology and development is rapidly changing. The way we develop Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central today, is far different to how we did it a few years back.
Now, you no longer rely on heavily coded software that makes upgrading your system expensive and complicated because you need to rewrite the customisations from scratch.
With the help of free development tools that can be learnt in a day for simple changes to a whole heap of standard APIs for interfaces to other key systems, as well as ‘low/no-code Microsoft Power Apps, it’s easier than ever to tailor and extend Dynamics to meet your business requirements – even for those that aren’t trained developers aka Citizen Developers. Or, as James says, “development is no longer in the remit of just a developer!”.
However, a Citizen Developer should proceed with caution. As Director Liam points out, a little knowledge can be dangerous – almost like working under the bonnet of your car without fully knowing what you’re doing.
So, how do you know which route is the right one for you, and how do they compare to how we do things now? Does the good outweigh the bad?
Tune into this episode of Tecman Talks Dynamics to find out!
